Under the 35 year rule, Job Share does NOT reduce your pension service.

What it CAN affect is your pensionable salary used in the final pension calculation.

So your years of service may still count but lower earnings close to retirement could reduce the final pension figure.

Everyone loves talking about AVCs.

Nobody wants to talk about what happens if the salary funding them disappears

Here’s the harsh truth:

If you can’t work tomorrow due to illness or injury, your AVC stops.
Your bills don’t.

Mortgage. Food. Heating. Kids. Life keeps going.

Your income is the engine behind EVERYTHING.

So protecting it should come before building extra retirement savings.
