One year ago, two credit unions (Bishopstown CU and Cobh CU) came together with a shared ambition: to create a stronger, more vibrant credit union for our members, colleagues and communities. Since then, we have achieved so much together. By combining our strengths, we have expanded our products and services, increased choice for our members and enhanced the value we deliver every day.

At the heart of this success are our people. Our colleagues, volunteers, members and the communities we proudly serve have all played a vital role in shaping our first year as Inspire Credit Union.

While we are proud of how far we have come, we are even more excited about what lies ahead. Together, we are building something that will support not only today's members, but future generations of families and communities for many years to come.

Budget 2027 has extended VRT relief for electric vehicles until 31 December 2028, giving buyers two more years to avail of up to €5,000 off the cost of a new battery electric vehicle. Combined with the €3,500 SEAI purchase grant, total support available remains at up to €8,500 on qualifying vehicles.

The urgency has eased, but the case for switching is as strong as ever. With VRT rates increasing by 1% on higher-emission vehicles from 2027, many petrol and diesel cars will become incrementally more expensive to buy.
