Another energy supplier is raising prices. Pinergy is increasing residential electricity prices by 7.6% from 14 September, equivalent to around €169 a year for the average household.

It follows increases from Electric Ireland, PrePay Power, Yuno Energy and Flogas earlier in 2026.

Conditions are changing for dairy farms this week. The Irish Farmers Journal advised today that farms still short on grass should extend rotation length to 50 days for the next two weeks and allow cover to build ahead during September.

A 25kg N per hectare application of protected urea with potassium this week will boost supply.

Local authorities inspected 4,315 farms under GAP regulations last year, with 2,935 enforcement actions taken, 68% higher than the year before. Of those inspected, 43% were found to be non compliant.
The most common issues were uncontrolled runoff from farmyard manure, inadequate gutters and downpipes, poor clean and dirty water separation and slurry management.
