🏆 Ireland’s best for customer experience

For the 11th year running, credit unions have been recognised for delivering Ireland’s best customer experience in the 2026 CXi Report, topping both the overall survey and the financial services sector.

With a score of 8.16 out of 10, the result reflects how members experience their credit union, including the value they receive, the service they get and the trust and relationships built along the way.

Minister O'Brien confirmed this week that grants for home battery storage will be introduced from October 2026. Combined with the existing €1,800 solar grant, now is the time to plan for installation.

Without a battery, surplus solar electricity goes to the grid at around 18 to 19c per kWh. You buy it back in the evening at 30 to 35c. A battery stores that surplus for when you actually need it. Solar panels coupled with home battery storage can really save on energy loss.

Minister for Energy Darragh O'Brien has announced plans for a boiler scrappage scheme worth €2,000 to households, which he intends to bring to Cabinet this week ahead of Budget 2027. Combined with the existing €12,500 heat pump grant, qualifying households could receive supports worth up to €14,500 towards replacing their fossil fuel heating system.

The scheme is intended to apply to properties built before 2021, with full eligibility details to be confirmed after Cabinet. If approved, it takes effect from January 2027.

This is the most significant boost to heat pump supports Ireland has ever announced. There's still a gap to bridge between grant and full project cost, where Greenify can help. Visit claremorriscu.ie/greenify/ for more information.

Over 24,821 farmers applied for the Beef Welfare Scheme 2026 before its closing date, up 1.4% on last year. The €28 million scheme targets suckler farms, with mandatory meal feeding pre and post-weaning and optional vaccination actions against clostridial diseases, calf pneumonia and bluetongue.

Strong uptake reflects how important scheme income is to suckler farmers right now.
