We’re delighted to announce the three recipients of Cavan Credit Union’s 2026 Student Bursary, each receiving €1,000 towards their studies:

Farrah Hislop – Agricultural Science, UCD
Connor Lyons – Agriculture (Drystock Management), Ballyhaise Agricultural College

Cavan Credit Union are delighted to support Cavan Parish Mothers’ Union, which was re-established in 2025 and meets monthly to provide a welcoming space for company, conversation and mutual support! 💙

The impact of their work is far-reaching - reducing social isolation, promoting wellbeing and dignity, and strengthening inclusion at parish level.

For our October Wellness Wednesday, some of the Cavan Credit Union team headed out for a morning of litter picking along our Green KM, and we couldn’t have picked a nicer morning for it! ☀️

The Green KM initiative, set up by Cavan County Council Tidy Towns Cavan , encourages local groups, businesses and communities to play their part in keeping our local roads clean and litter-free.

It was a great opportunity to get out of the office, enjoy some fresh air and do something worthwhile for our local community 🌿

Budget 2027 has extended VRT relief for electric vehicles until 31 December 2028, giving buyers two more years to avail of up to €5,000 off the cost of a new battery electric vehicle. Combined with the €3,500 SEAI purchase grant, total support available remains at up to €8,500 on qualifying vehicles.

The urgency has eased but the case for switching is as strong as ever. With VRT rates increasing by 1% on more pollutant vehicles from 2027, petrol and diesel cars are becoming incrementally more expensive to buy. Cavan Credit Union is delighted to support Corlurgan National School with funding towards the continued development of their newly established autism class💙🌈

This sponsorship will go towards the development of a dedicated sensory room, wellbeing walkway and refurbishment of facilities, helping to create a supportive and inclusive environment where children with additional needs can learn, develop and thrive.

These facilities will support sensory regulation, communication and overall wellbeing, while providing pupils with a space designed around their individual needs.

We’re very proud to support initiatives like this that make a meaningful difference for children and families in our local community💚

Minister O'Brien confirmed this week that grants for home battery storage will be introduced from October 2026. Combined with the existing €1,800 solar grant, now is the time to plan for installation.

Without a battery, surplus solar electricity goes to the grid at around 18 to 19c per kWh. You buy it back in the evening at 30 to 35c. A battery stores that surplus for when you actually need it. Solar panels coupled with home battery storage can really save on energy loss.

Cavan Credit Union is delighted to support St. Michael's N.S Clifferna with funding towards the development of an outdoor sensory space for their newly established autism class 💙

Established in September 2025, the class supports children with ASD and visual impairment in an inclusive learning environment, with a focus on communication, sensory regulation and hands-on learning.

Our sponsorship will go towards specialised outdoor sensory resources, including a sand pit, water play area, mud kitchen, and sensory & musical wall. We’re delighted to play a small part in creating a space where children can learn, explore and thrive. 💚
