On Sunday, 10th May between 2am and 3am there is scheduled maintenance on the instant payments processing platform. You will not be able to send instant payments during this time.

Payments can be processed via SCT Classic during this time.

We will resume normal opening hours on Tuesday, 5th May.

We will be open Saturday, 2nd May as normal.

📣 Member Notice - May Day Bank Holiday 📣

Friday, 1st May 2026 is a European Bank Holiday

As a result of this:

👉 SEPA Standard Payments & Direct Debits will not be processed on Friday, 1st May.
👉 SEPA Instant Payments will operate as normal

How does this affect our Members:

👉 Payments due on May 1st will not be processed as normal.
👉 Payments must be made before 12 noon on Thursday, April 30th or earlier to avoid disruption.
👉 Payments made on Thursday, April 30th will be received for value on 4th May 2026 & processed on 5th May
👉 Incoming payments will also be credited to your account later than usual.
👉 To avoid disruption, we advise making any important payments earlier this week.
👉 Athenry Credit Union will be open as normal on Friday, May 1st & close on Monday, 3rd May.

Friday, 1st May 2026 is a European Bank Holiday

As a result of this:

⚠️Fraudulent SMS Phishing Scam⚠️

We have been notified of a text message scam in circulation where Credit Union members may receive a text stating a new payee has been added to their account. The text is likely to give a name of the payee that has been added. The message falsely purports to be issued by the member’s credit union but it is a scam.

If you contact the number given, you will be speaking with a fraudster who will request your personal login details.

❌ This is a scam and is NOT genuine contact from your local Credit Union.

Athenry Credit Union will NEVER contact you via text messages regarding payee’s added to your account or containing links or requesting any passwords/PIN numbers.

Athenry Credit Union will NEVER ask you to share your personal passwords, pins or login details.

Should you receive one of these text messages or a similar type, please contact us immediately.

There is currently a fraud attempt in circulation targeting members through impersonation of Electric Ireland. ⚠️ This is a scam!

Members of Credit Unions across Ireland are receiving text messages with the following message 📱

“Do you have a Credit Union account & did you know you could save 30% on your bills?”

This is a highly sophisticated & plausible scam appearing to come from a trusted utility brand to lower suspicion.

Members may receive text messages from other trusted companies with a similar type of message.

❌ Do not reply or engage
❌ Do not click on any links in the message
❌ Do not give out any personal information
✅ Report it immediately to your Credit Union
✅ Use official contact details to contact
✅ Block the phone number who sent the message
✅ Hang up the phone if you receive a phone call
✅ Be fraud aware at all times, stay up to date.

Important member information to note during the Easter Holidays 🐣

On Good Friday, Friday 3rd & Easter Monday, Monday 6th payments will not be processed during this time.

Normal SEPA processing will resume on Tuesday 7th April for all classic payments.
