At the time it operated from above Foys Shop on Church Street. In the mid 1970s owing to the growth of the credit union, the premises was moved to Friary Lane. In 1995, the credit union moved again to Northgate Street, where it remained for over two decades. On June 29th 2020 they opened in Irishtown. A second office was opened in Monksland in Oct 2012 and renovated in May 2020. On the 21st of Feb
ruary 2023 Athlone Credit Union successfully merged with Castlerea and District Credit Union. The new entity of Athlone and Castlerea Credit Union now boasts assets of over €140 million, combined reserves of over €19.1 million and a combined membership of 28,000 people in their local community. This is an outstanding reflection of the confidence that each member has in the Credit Union as we continue to develop. The credit Union offers a host of services for its members Savings, Loans, Financial Advice, Foreign Exchange, Insurance Products and a Current Account & Globally Accepted Debit Card.
