Adare Community Hall

Adare Community Hall Available for community class events and/or meeting bookings. Text: Tom O'Keeffe on 087-6732071.

The Adare village community hall is an iconic land mark that is centrally located at the upper end of the Main Street, at the junction of the Rathkeale and Askeaton roads. The facility was designed by renowned English architect, William Clifford Smith, in 1909 under the financial patronage of Windham Thomas Wyndham Quin, the 4th Earl of Dunraven, a wealthy landowner who lived in nearby Adare Manor

. Construction was completed in 1911 and Lord Dunraven bequeathed the facility to “the people of Adare”. It was constructed with a dormer two story front facade building, complete with well crafted cut and dressed limestone, as well lean-to dormer windows, symmetrical hipped roof and gables. Two internal meeting rooms are located on the ground and first levels. An interconnecting large hall building, complete with a performance stage, toilets, storage rooms and a kitchen, is located at the rear of the front dormer building. The facility is held in trust for use as a versatile venue for the local community to meet for organised events. A volunteer committee is responsible for managing regular events, as well as finance, cleaning and maintenance activities. The facility is available for class activity events, group or personal bookings and for meetings throughout the year. Phone: 087-6732071 (Tom O'Keeffe - Secretary & PRO) for further details.

New History Book in Adare

Following on from his last book The Colleen Bawn in 2018, Pat Fitzgerald has completed a new book. This time he has written a short centenary biography. His subject is Windham Thomas Wyndham-Quin, 4th Earl of Dunraven and Mount-Earl (1841-1926). It is entitled The Versatile Earl who brought golf to Adare. Pat has drawn from a wide range of sources, including both the Earl’s own publications and those of his daughter. His commemorate tribute edition is, neutral and accurate and emphasises remembrance and celebration, formal in places and broader than a biography in parts. It is accessible to a range of readers. The launch will take place in The Village Hall, Adare, (which was commissioned, built, and finally opened by the 4th Earl in 1911) on Tuesday 24 February 2026 at 8:00 pm. Historian Mr David Leahy B.E., M.A., of Castletroy will host the launch. Price €12. Special Launch price €10
