A three-day Local Startup Festival themed “Tech for All” hosted by local creative business communities Local.co.id and StartUpLokal has been held on February 2017 featuring industry veterans as well as novice startups and tech enthusiasts who shared insider tips and tricks on how to make it in the startup world. Kejora, a VC firm and startup hub in Indonesia, will give a new venture fund for Southeast Asian startups. Its target size is US$80 million and about a third of it has been secured at this point.

Printerous, an Indonesian digital printing service, raised a US$1.4 million pre-series A investment led by Singapore’s Golden Gate Ventures. Printerous lets companies and individuals custom print designs on things by send their designs over the internet and can get orders delivered.

Sinar Mas Land plans to start construction on the first building in a smart city project claimed to be "Indonesia's Silicon Valley" and located in its signature township of Bumi Serpong Damai, known as BSD City, in Tangerang, Banten.
The building will set to become home to IT-based companies, research centers, software developers, computer designers and animation-video production companies

Sociolla, an Indonesian e-commerce site, secured an undisclosed amount of series B funding from Japan-based fashion company Istyle and local venture capital firm East Ventures. It will be used to expand its team in the tech and media division, increase operational staff, and add new features on its website.

Berrybenka, Indonesian fashion e-commerce platform, has secured an “eight-digit” US dollar fresh investment from institutional investors Maj Invest Private Equity, Asia Summit Capital, and Softbank-Indosat Fund. This investment would fund marketing and user acquisition, talent acquisition and retention as well as inventory cycle.

Toge Productions, an Indonesian indie game developer studio, has received an undisclosed amount of funding from Discovery Nusantara Cpital (DNC), the investment arm of China-based game company Zhexin IT Co. It will be used to accelerate growth, and help in bringing “high quality games from Indonesia to the global market”, according to Toge’s management team

Plug and Play Indonesia, the newly launched joint venture between United States-based business accelerator Plug and Play and local venture capital firm Gan Kapital, is set to invest in at least 50 local startups annually over the next four years. The startups will receive funding, mentorship, complimentary co-working space and additional support as part of a three-month accelerator program.

Indonesian financial services authority (OJK) prepare a regulation that would allow local fintech companies to lend money directly to their customers, a practice known as on-balance-sheet model. Fintech companies offering on-balance-sheet model are required by regulation to convert into the P2P lending scheme.
