Want to buy abroad but can't fly out every other week? Here's how a remote purchase works.
One of the biggest worries about buying property in another country is simple: “I can't be there all the time.” In practice, you don't have to be.
A well-run purchase abroad can be handled remotely, with a local lawyer representing your interests on the ground. That usually means:
• you review shortlisted properties and information from home;
• a local lawyer checks the legal side and can act on your behalf;
• the paperwork and signing can be arranged without flying out for every step;
• once you own it, the property can be managed for you.
Being there in person can still help, but it isn't the only way to buy safely.
