Crowe legal experts from Spain, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Romania, and Croatia recently gathered in Zagreb for a working meeting focused on practical cooperation and the future of our legal services.

Our discussions centered on:

Last week, at the , our Tax Partner Krešimir Lipovščak and Senior Manager Ana Leko guided members through the key tax developments shaping 2026 - and the room was fully engaged from the very first slide.

This year’s reform may not be as dramatic as some previous cycles, but it brought enough relevant updates to spark an active and thoughtful discussion: from changes in VAT procedures, to the broader rollout of , updates related to income tax, and the evolving landscape of transfer pricing and global minimum tax rules.

What stood out most was how participants were to understand what these changes mean in practice - for their operations, compliance processes, and day‑to‑day decision‑making.

“You could sense how important clarity is right now,” Krešimir noted during the Q&A. “Even when changes seem small, their impact on real business processes is anything but.”
Ana added: “The questions we received show how much companies want to stay ahead, not just compliant. That mindset makes all the difference.”

Topics that triggered lively discussion included:

Sometimes the most meaningful conversations happen early in the morning - over coffee, questions, and shared challenges.

That’s exactly what happened at our " : Start Fresh, Start Compliant".
As the room filled, you could sense the same concern on everyone’s mind:
“How do we keep our organisations compliant in a year full of regulatory change?”

The session opened with Dubravka Lacković Smole, who didn’t just talk about regulatory updates - she translated them.
From aligning internal acts to preparing for new EU directives, she showed how each change is not just an obligation, but an opportunity to strengthen internal processes. ⚖️

Then Renata Benko took us into the real world of GDPR - beyond theory.
