Dear colleagues, and friends of dental sciences,
After a longer than expected wait, we are happy to inform you that preparations for the upcoming International Symposium on Dental Morphology are finally underway. We are planning to hold the 18th ISDM together with the 3rd meeting of the International Association for Paleodontology (IAPO) as a face-to-face event at the Senckenberg Research Institute and Natural History Museum in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, August 22-26, 2022.
After more than 50 years, starting with its first conference in 1965 in Fredensborg Denmark, the International Symposium on Dental Morphology (ISDM) is and shall remain an independent, interdisciplinary and integrative conference bringing together about 250 world specialists in the research fields of Anthropology and Palaeoanthropology, Palaeontology, Anatomy, Archaeology,Zoology, Biomechanics, Forensics, Dentistry, Molecular Biology to discuss intensively the latest findings and versatile current research perspectives on dental evolution, jaw system adaptations, tooth development, tooth growth, life history, functional morphology, evolutionary dentistry and dental forensics in a broad and integrative unique knowledge forum over three to four days.
In order to prepare the conference in the best possible way, it would be great if we could already receive short non-binding feedback, whether you are planning to attend the 18th ISDM in August 2022 in Frankfurt. Please, consider, all participants must have an institutional affiliation. In case you already have a topic in mind for presentation you may send already a preliminary title, indicating whether it is planned as an oral or as a poster presentation.
This will help us a lot to set up a tentative schedule of sessions and reach out to potential sponsors and grant agencies for financial support for the conference.

Of course, we cannot yet predict how the corona measures will be in Germany, and in Frankfurt, in August 2022. Therefore, we must ask everyone to be prepared for possible restrictions. Based on the current situation, we anticipate that participation in the event will only be possible for fully vaccinated and/or recovered persons.
Further details and updated registration information will be announced in a first circular shortly. In case you do not want to receive further information about the 18th ISDM 2022, please reply to this email that you would like your email address to be removed from the mailing list. It would be wonderful if you could please pass this information on to other interested colleagues.
On behalf of the ISDM 2022 organizing committee, sincerely yours,
Ottmar Kullmer
