CFA Society Hong Kong is a non-profit organization founded in 1992, sharing the mission of CFA Institute in raising the professional and ethical standards of financial analysts and investment practitioners. In a changing technical and professional environment, practitioners engaging in regulated activities in Hong Kong should regularly update their knowledge and skills through Continuous Professional Training (“CPT”) to maintain their professional competence. The Society is recognized by the Securities and Futures Commission (“SFC”) as an institution for providing Continuous Professional Training (“CPT”). Continuing Education programs and seminars organized by CFA Society Hong Kong qualify for CPT hours.

【Joint Response to HKMA Consultation Paper】

The 香港金融管理局 Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has published its Consultation Paper on Prototype of Hong Kong Taxonomy for Sustainable Finance (Phase 2B). CFA Society Hong Kong and CFA Institute welcome the introduction of the Taxonomy, while offering our suggestions and cautions in our joint response paper.

The comments have also been made in line with our long-standing position, which is reflected in CFA Institute’s Global ESG Disclosure Standards for Investment Products as well as our mission “to create an environment where investors' interests come first, markets function at their best, and economies grow”: a taxonomy exists to help investors and capital allocators make informed, comparable decisions.

In practice, we look for:
📌 Investor decision-usefulness and market integrity first;
📌 Simplicity, proportionality and non-duplication;
📌 Interoperability over reinvention;
📌 Flexibility over rigid bright lines (“shades of green”);
📌 Predictability and stability; and
📌 Evidence-based, science-based credibility

【AI x FinTech Symposium 2026】

The second edition of our highly acclaimed “AI x FinTech Symposium 2026” concluded successfully with a full house of over 120 participants.

Dr. Alvin Ho, CFA, President of CFA Society Hong Kong, kickstarted the afternoon with opening remarks on how AI technology is advancing scientific discoveries and investment practices, before welcoming our Venue Partner, Loretta Fong, Sustainability Assurance Leader at PwC Hong Kong, to the stage to deliver welcoming remarks.

Building on the opening remarks, the symposium continued with three insightful panel discussions that delved into key topics across AI and FinTech, ranging from how leading funds leverage AI across asset classes, to evaluating AI investment theses from venture to public equities, how agentic workflows will transform daily operations, and how far institutional adoption of digital assets and RWAs has truly come.

Before wrapping up the afternoon, David Ching, CFA, Vice President of the Society and the key driving force behind the symposium, expressed his enthusiasm at the exceptional response from the audience. He also shared his vision for how finance professionals in Hong Kong will continue to thrive alongside rapidly emerging technologies.
