The 'Dried Seafood Street' in Sheung Wan, Hong Kong, originated in the early 20th century as a successor to the former 'Salted Fish Market.' Due to its proximity to the Sheung Wan piers and the lack of advanced refrigeration technology at the time, a large number of salted fish and dried seafood wholesalers gathered there. Over time, it evolved into a concentrated trading hub for dried goods, eventually transforming into the unique landscape of lined-up dried seafood shops seen today.
