Earlier today, our Executive Director & Assistant Head of Global Index, Sylvia Zhang, spoke at the 7th Annual ETFGI Global ETFs Insights Summit – Asia Pacific in Hong Kong.

In her panel, “Next Frontier for ETF Connect: Custom Index Design is Unlocking Opportunities”, moderated by Deborah Fuhr (ETFGI), she shared our key takeaways: in Asian markets, secular bull-market assets have been scarce — so we blend the best of US and China assets for true diversification across regions and sectors. The real challenge is identifying the right Hong Kong stocks, and we use custom index design and liquidity solutions to unlock new opportunities for our institutional and retail clients.

Thank you to Deborah Fuhr and ETFGI for hosting, and to all panelists for the insightful conversation.

Our Chief Investment Officer, Global Equity, Jeff Li, shares his latest market view on the recent correction in global technology hardware.
He attributes the sell-off to three factors: a slightly tightening macroeconomic backdrop, a marginal deterioration of the AI investment narrative, and the technical unwinding of extremely crowded, highly leveraged positions.
Looking ahead, he sees the model market increasingly segmenting — frontier models should retain premium pricing — while memory’s rising share of hyperscaler capex (to ~40% from ~12%)* is a key swing factor to watch .

Last week, our Head of Digital Marketing & Sales, Sapphire Wang, spoke at the AI·CRYPTO Global Asset Allocation Summit in Hong Kong.

Her keynote, ”AI Era Investment Landscape: Technological Waves and Opportunities,“ laid out our conviction: AI is not a passing trend—it is a structural industrial revolution. Enterprise adoption is accelerating across every sector, token consumption is surging, and the infrastructure build-out is entering a multi-year supercycle.

At E Fund HK, we see AI as a foundational layer of the next-generation digital economy. Our ETF suite offers transparent, focused exposure to this structural theme:

🔹 E Fund (HK) FTSE AI Select Index ETF (3489)
🔹 E Fund (HK) Solactive Asia Semiconductor Select Index ETF (3486)
🔹 E Fund (HK) HKEX Tech 100 Index ETF (3456)

Thank you to ZR Financial Group for organizing and to all panelists for the great conversations. The future isn’t waiting — it‘s already here.

Our take on AI & semiconductors – straight from today’s luncheon at Hong Kong Bankers Club, co-hosted with HSBC ETF Intelligence Academy.

Senior Strategist Arnold Tam laid out the key shift: AI capex remains robust, but the market is pivoting from sheer hardware scaling to disciplined returns and real-world adoption. E Fund’s tech ETFs offer efficient, diversified access to Asia’s semiconductor value chain and the broader AI ecosystem.

The Q&A session highlighted investors’ growing attention to valuation discipline and application‑stage metrics – a clear sign of maturing market sophistication.

More to come.

Grateful to Blanche and HSBC for organising, to Kanas for moderating, and to special guests Sarah and Alan for their valuable insights.

24/08/2026

Gold prices have rebounded above $4,500/oz, with central bank buying emerging as a key structural driver.

China added 640,000 ounces (≈19.9 tonnes) in July – the largest monthly increase this cycle – marking 21 consecutive months of purchases. Globally, central banks net bought 289 tonnes in Q2 2026, up 62% year-on-year, the highest quarterly level in four years.

For investors seeking leveraged exposure, the E Fund (HK) Solactive Global Gold Miner Select Index ETF (2824) offers a diversified portfolio of 30 leading miners across China, Canada, the US and Australia, capturing the operational leverage of gold producers as prices rise.

Central bank demand remains a structural tailwind for gold. The debate on reserve diversification continues.

Jeff Li, Chief Investment Officer, Global Equity, shared a constructive outlook on Bloomberg China Show today, citing robust corporate capex spending as a key driver for economic growth in coming years while viewing the recent tech pullback as a healthy correction within a longer-term upcycle that has improved the risk/reward profile and should lead to broadening market breadth. His highest-conviction themes remain Artificial Intelligence—where fundamentals remain strong and divergence of views helping to keep valuation away from bubble levels —alongside Healthcare, Financials, and the Quality factor in general.

13/08/2026

We are pleased to share that AI large model company MiniMax (0100.HK) has been fast-tracked into the HKEX Tech 100 Index, effective 13 August 2026.

As the issuer of the index-tracking ETF, we see this as a powerful validation of the index's fast-entry mechanism – ensuring high-growth names are captured immediately upon Stock Connect eligibility, without waiting for periodic rebalancing.

MiniMax's inclusion enriches the index's AI large model exposure and reinforces the HKEX Tech 100 Index's structural advantage in tracking Hong Kong's innovation economy.

The index covers six frontier sectors – artificial intelligence, biotech & pharmaceutical, electric vehicles & smart driving, information technology, internet and robotics – offering investors a diversified gateway to Hong Kong's tech beta.

The conversation on Hong Kong's tech future continues.
