A new chapter begins at AustCham HK with Jason Chang stepping into the role of Chair. In the message below, he speaks directly to our community about the opportunities ahead for Australia-Hong Kong business.

“I am truly excited to lead the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong at a time when Australia and Hong Kong are both playing a key role in global financial markets, innovation, tech, education, resources and services. AustCham is the largest Australian chamber globally and Hong Kong is home to many of the world’s leading businesses. Hong Kong, as part of the Greater Bay Area, is a market of 87 million people. This is the fastest growing region in the world and next year, Shenzhen, 15 mins from Hong Kong by fast train, will host the 2026 APEC Forum. Together, we have an extraordinary opportunity to strengthen connections, drive growth, and shape the future of Australia-Hong Kong business.”

Jason is Co-Founder, CEO and Managing Director of
EMR Capital, a global private equity firm that focusses on energy transition, critical minerals and food security. Prior to EMR, Jason was partner of KMG in Australia where he was Head of the Asia Practice for Australian inbound and outbound investments, especially in metals and mining. Jason graduated with a combined Bachelor of Laws/Economics degree as well as a Masters of Law from Monash University, in Melbourne, where he lived for more than 30 years, prior to moving to Hong Kong in 2017.

Join us in welcoming Jason as Chair and let us know in the comments below what opportunities you’re most excited about for the AustCham HK community under his leadership.

The Australian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong extends its deepest condolences to all those affected by the tragic events in Bondi yesterday. We share in the profound sorrow felt across the nation.

We also acknowledge the exceptional courage and dedication of first responders, emergency services personnel, and community members who showed such remarkable bravery. Their actions stand as a powerful testament to the resilience and true spirit that defines Australia.

In moments of collective hardship, our strength lies in supporting one another with empathy, dignity, and care. AustCham and our member network stand firmly alongside the people of Bondi, and all Australians, as we navigate this period of mourning and recovery together.

A statement from the Governor-General:

“Tonight, Australians are in shock, distress and sadness watching the tragic events that have unfolded in Bondi.

We have all witnessed terrible and heartbreaking scenes and now know that many lives have been lost and many more injured. I speak on behalf of all Australians in expressing my deepest condolences to everybody affected. It is particularly distressing on the first night of Hanukkah, a time of peace. I know that this is a deeply distressing time for the Jewish community and for all Australians.

“Australians have also witnessed extraordinary acts of heroism by so many today - brave members of the public, devoted first responders including police officers, emergency services personnel, ambulance officers and the dedicated hospital teams who are nov providing care to those injured.

“Tonight, Australians across the country are in heartbreak - particularly those closest to Bondi but in homes right across the country. Our thoughts are with all those impacted. In days ahead we will need to show care for one another and help everyone through this deeply traumatic event.

“I join others in imploring everyone in Sydney to continue to follow the advice of authorities, in particular the police, as they deal with this terrible and complex situation.”

Events| Last week, AustCham FB&H Committee in partnership with hosted an unforgettable evening at Macquarie celebrating fine artisanal wines from across Australia. Guests had the exclusive opportunity to sample 12 exquisite tastings of red, white, and sparkling wines from over 8 renowned wineries.

We were honored to welcome Emmanuel Briat, owner and representative of Oz Terroirs, who shared captivating stories behind his wines. Adding to the excitement, the enigmatic Timo Mayer, a legendary winemaker from the Yarra Valley known for his rare and highly sought-after wines, was also present to showcase some of his wines.

It was a fantastic night filled with great wine, inspiring conversations, and valuable networking among AustCham members. A perfect occasion to discover unique wines and stock up your cellar with some of Australia’s finest.

A big thank you again to Emmanuel Briat for the amazing Artisanal Wines, Scott Harmer for hosting us at venue and for putting on an amazing spread with .hk
