Important Notice: Gate.HK Platform Overhaul and Service Changes
We are writing to inform you about important upcoming changes to our platform and services.
Gate.HK is committed to providing a more secure and compliant experience for our users. As part of this commitment, we will be undergoing a major overhaul of our current platform, along with potential development of new services and products in the near future. Consequently, we are withdrawing our application to be licensed for Types 1 and 7 regulated activities under section 116 of the Securities and Futures Ordinance (SFO) and to provide a virtual asset (VA) service under section 53ZRK of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Ordinance (AMLO).
We are aware that the mandatory licensing requirements in Hong Kong will come into effect on 1st June 2024. Therefore, we will implement the following measures:
1. No New User Registrations: Effective immediately, Gate.HK will not register any new users.
2. No Asset Deposits: Effective immediately, Gate.HK will not allow any deposit of assets.
3. Token Delisting and Trading Cessation: By 4:00 PM (Hong Kong time) on 28 May 2024, Gate.HK will delist all tokens, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (B*H), Litecoin (LTC), Solana (SOL), Polkadot (DOT), Polygon (MATIC), Uniswap (UNI), and Tether USD (USDT), and cease all trading activities.
4. Asset Withdrawals: Gate.HK will continue to allow withdrawals of assets until 28 August 2024.
5. Cessation of Marketing: Effective immediately, Gate.HK will stop marketing its services in Hong Kong.
We strongly advise users to allow themselves sufficient time to wind down or otherwise manage their positions with Gate.HK before 4:00 PM (Hong Kong time) on 28 May 2024 and to withdraw their assets from the platform before 28 August 2024.
Gate.HK is actively working on the aforementioned overhaul. We plan to resume our business in Hong Kong in the future and contribute to the virtual asset ecosystem after obtaining the relevant licenses.
