PSC Elects Leadership and Sets Priorities for 2026–2027 at Annual General Meeting

Georgetown, Guyana, May 29, 2026: The Private Sector Commission (PSC) successfully convened its 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM), during which members elected the organisation's leadership team for the 2026–2027 term and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing private sector development, economic growth, and national prosperity.

The newly elected Executive Committee comprises;
- Capt. Gerald Gouveia Jr. - Chairman
- Ms. Kathy Smith - Vice Chairwoman
- Mr. Imran Saccoor - Treasurer
- Ms. Josephine Tapp-Rutherford - Honorary Secretary

Global financial giant Citi has received approval from the Bank of Guyana to establish a representative office in Georgetown, marking a major vote of confidence in Guyana’s booming economy.

The move comes as Guyana continues to attract significant international investment, with Citi citing the country's rapid growth, expanding infrastructure sector, and increasing demand for export financing as key drivers behind its decision.

After nearly 30 years of serving Guyana without a physical presence, Citi says the new office will strengthen partnerships with government agencies, financial institutions, and the private sector while connecting local businesses to global markets.

The banking giant believes its on-the-ground presence will help attract more international investors and provide Guyanese companies with greater access to global opportunities.

The development is being seen as another strong signal of confidence in Guyana’s economic future and growing influence within the region.
