The National Insurance Scheme (NIS) earlier today joined the Ministry of Finance at the Vice-President Bharrat Jagdeo’s Region Six Public Day held at the University of Guyana Campus, Tain, Corentyne.

During the outreach, the Scheme was on site providing essential services, addressing NIS-related queries, and assisting contributors and pensioners with important information regarding their benefits and contributions.

The initiative provided members of the public with the opportunity to engage directly with agencies and receive guidance on a range of services and matters of concern. See less

The National Insurance Scheme’s General Manager, Mrs. Holly Greaves participated in the Diaspora Unit’s Stakeholder Forum titled “Bridging Guyana’s Skills Gap: Diaspora & Migrant Labour” held at the Guyana Marriott Hotel. The forum was hosted in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

The session brought together stakeholders to discuss Guyana’s labour and skills needs, with a focus on diaspora engagement, migrant labour and sustainable workforce solutions.

Participants engaged in discussions on opportunities, challenges and practical approaches to support national development.
NIS participation highlighted the Scheme’s commitment to supporting initiatives that encourage collaboration and strengthen workforce development in Guyana.

In celebration of Guyana’s 60th Anniversary under the theme “Sound, Soul, and Taste,” the National Insurance Scheme proudly participated in the Guyana Festival 2026 held at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence. Over the three-day event, the Scheme engaged members of the public by providing contribution statements, checking claims, and offering guidance on NIS benefits and claim-related queries.

The festival brought together thousands in a vibrant showcase of Guyanese culture, unity and national pride, while allowing the NIS to continue its commitment to delivering accessible and efficient service to the public.

The National Insurance Scheme Mahaicony Local Office partnered with the Ministry of Health on May 14th to provide a range of essential health services to members of the public.

The initiative aimed to promote wellness, encourage early detection and improve access to healthcare services within the community.

Services offered included HIV and STI screening, eye testing, audiology, laboratory testing, general outpatient services, blood pressure and glucose testing, as well as a blood donation drive. The outreach reflected a continued commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of the public through accessible and collaborative healthcare initiatives.
