Multicolores is a Guatemala registered non-profit organization that supports Maya women in their process of self-discovery and artistic development. Multicolores uses art as a tool for exploration and expression, igniting the artists’ many talents and abilities, and empowering them to become powerful agents of change. Multicolores works with groups of Maya K’iché, Kaqchiquel and Tzutujil women fro

m the Guatemalan highlands. Our artists represent 9 communities from the regions of Sololá, Totonicapán, Quiché, Quetzaltenango and Sacatepéquez. Together we are a strong support network that encourages well-being and fulfillment among all members. We believe in mutual aid, promote environmental consciousness and thrive on building relationships with diverse local and international communities.

Do you remember our journey through Milan Design Week? ✨

The conversations, the connections, the inspiration, and the beautiful feeling of seeing Guatemalan art being celebrated in spaces filled with creativity from all around the world.

Now, that journey continues.

Guatemala Diseña con las Manos, the itinerant exhibition bringing together contemporary and traditional Guatemalan creators, has arrived at Berlin Design Week from May 28–31 ✨

We are so excited that the work of our artists continues traveling through Europe, carrying with it stories, traditions, textures, and contemporary visions born in Guatemala.

If you are in Berlin, come discover the work of Petronila, Micaela, and all the incredible studios and artists that are part of this exhibition 🤍

A special thank you to INGUAT for making this journey and international exchange possible.

The landscapes surrounding our artists slowly find their way into their rugs ✨

The mountains, the lakes, the flowers, the colors of everyday life in their communities, all become part of the patterns they create by hand.

This piece was created by María Sacalxot, artist from the community of Chirijquiac, whose work reflects the beauty and spirit of the nature that surrounds her 🤍

Every rug carries a story, a territory, and a way of seeing the world.

We are the art we create by hand ✨

Our artists pour pieces of themselves into every embroidery work they create, transforming memories, emotions, traditions, and personal stories into cloth, texture, and color.

Their hands are more than tools, they are vessels of creation, capable of turning thread into something deeply human and meaningful.

That is why every piece carries its own soul, because behind every stitch there is a woman imagining, feeling, remembering, and creating 🤍

And maybe that is what art truly is,
leaving traces of ourselves behind,
so others can feel that we were here.

Motherhood exists in so many forms ✨

In the hands that care,
the voices that guide us,
the women who create, protect, nurture, and hold space for others every single day.

Today we honor the strength, tenderness, resilience, and love that lives within motherhood, and the many women who shape generations through quiet acts of care and courage 🤍

Some pieces simply feel alive ✨

Maybe it’s the colors, the textures, or the feeling that somebody poured part of themselves into creating them.

That’s what our artists do.
They transform memories, emotions, traditions, and everyday life in Guatemala into contemporary textile art meant to be lived with and cherished.

Each piece carries hours of work, intention, and story, making no two ever the same.

Do you remember this rug? ✨

One of the pieces that traveled with us to Milan Design Week, carrying a small part of Guatemala into a global conversation on art and design.

Now, we are back home in Guatemala, returning with new memories, new experiences, and a renewed sense of inspiration.

Back in the gallery, reunited with our team, we keep reflecting on everything we lived, the people we met, the ideas we encountered, and the reminder of how much we love sharing the art of Guatemala with the world.

Every journey changes the way we create.
And now, we are ready to transform everything we experienced into new colors, new stories, and beautiful new pieces ✨

Not everything is seen ✨

Between exhibitions, conversations, and beautiful spaces, there were also early mornings, long days, quick meals between meetings, train rides, and moments of quiet coordination behind it all.

This experience at Milan Design Week was not only about what we showed, but about everything it took to make it possible.

A true team effort.

To our delegation, for showing up with openness, energy, and heart.

To our team back in Guatemala, holding everything together from afar.

To our donors, who believed in this journey and made it possible.

To our community, near and far, who continues to support and uplift this work.

Because every connection we made, every conversation we had, and every moment of inspiration we gathered was built collectively.

We carry this experience with deep gratitude — knowing that what we are building goes beyond us.

A more equal, more sustainable, and more creative world, shaped together ✨

Milan Design Week reminded us of something powerful ✨

Our work is crossing borders.

From the hands of Maya women artists in Guatemala to galleries, design spaces, and homes around the world, each rug carries more than design, it carries story, identity, and transformation.

Being here, surrounded by contemporary art from so many cultures, has made us even more certain that our pieces belong in this global conversation. Our rugs are rooted in tradition, but they speak through contemporary design, creating a bridge between ancestral knowledge and new ways of seeing the world.

Every piece is one of a kind, created through a deeply personal process where art becomes a language for self expression and a path toward economic independence.

When you choose one of our rugs, you are not only bringing home a work of art, you are supporting the creative journey of the artist behind it and helping sustain opportunities for women, families, and entire communities.

Milan Design Week has been a feast for our imaginary ✨

From exhibitions and galleries to conversations with artists, designers, and creative spaces, every day here has been an opportunity to absorb new perspectives and discover new ways of thinking about art.

Each space, each piece, each encounter becomes inspiration. And all of it travels back with us.

What we are living in Milan will continue in Guatemala, in our rugs, in our embroidery, and in the creative processes we share with our artists. Because exposure to new contexts, new materials, and new conversations opens doors to new forms of expression.

Our work is deeply rooted in tradition,
but it expresses itself through contemporary art. 🪡

The colors, symbols, and stories of Guatemala, especially those woven into traditional Maya clothing, remain one of our greatest sources of inspiration. They are the foundation of what we create, the memory we carry, and the language we continue to honor.

At the same time, our practice is about reimagining that heritage through new forms, new dialogues, and new perspectives, creating contemporary Guatemalan art that lives between ancestry and innovation, between preservation and possibility ✨

Discover more about our work through our website, and if one of these pieces speaks to you, you can find it there waiting for its next home 🤍
