They say a week is a long time in politics. I’ve been away for two… and I’ve come back to quite a few changes.

A new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, Angela Rayner reinstated as Housing Secretary, Louise Haigh appointed Chancellor for the Duchy of Lancaster and John Healey replacing Rachel Reeves as Chancellor.

Whether you agree with these changes or not, the markets have reacted…

Yesterday, gilt rates rose, and many expect it to continue.

If you’re a business owner, high earner, landlord, with any kind of asset behind you, now may be the time to review your financial and tax plans.

With further tax changes, highly likely, don’t miss out on opportunities to protect your wealth.

I’m a Women’s Recognition Awards ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR FINALIST.

Running a business has brought countless challenges, opportunities and lessons along the way, and having my hard work recognised really means a lot!

My work goes beyond financial advice and growing Seymour Financial. I’m also a financial coach, co-own a SSAS practice, and am proud to be a Brand Ambassador for the she_eo_collective, supporting others and flying the flag for women in business.

Juggling all of this alongside motherhood as a small business owner has been a challenge, but so rewarding.

And just like that the summer holiday is over…..

The silent win of the last ten days is that for the first holiday in nearly twenty years (yes twenty), I didn’t turn my laptop on once…..

And if you’re a small business owner like me, you’ll know what a rarity that is and what a big step that has been!

Knowing I have the best team manning the fort has been a Godsend for which I’m supremely grateful. I couldn’t do it without them.

And although a holiday with 14 family members, and 6 children meant there really wasn’t much time to think, the thinking I DID have time for made me realise just what’s important to me right now…..

Some BIG decisions have been made in the last couple of weeks, meaning some BIG changes will be happening this year….

Something that better aligns with where I am now, what’s most important to me like never before, and who I want to help going forward…..

I’m incredibly grateful to have been nominated for not one, but two categories at this year’s Women’s Recognition Awards, Financial Adviser of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year.

And I’ve also been nominated for Financial Adviser of the Year, Midlands & East Anglia, at the Women in Financial Advice Awards 2026.

Awards that recognise women who are flying the flag in business are so important, and it really does mean so much to be recognised!
