🇬🇷 Greece | Property Transfer Tax Update
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has announced that the property transfer tax for buyers from outside the EU will increase from the current 3.09% to 15%, with the measure announced to take effect from July 2027.
While this is certainly significant news, we recommend remaining calm until the full details are officially clarified.
We are awaiting further information on the exact scope of the measure, implementation details and, importantly, any transitional provisions for transactions already underway.
👉 For clients already in the process of purchasing: please continue with your plans as advised and avoid making any rushed decisions based on the initial announcement. We will assess each case individually once the official details are available and advise you on the appropriate next steps.
👉 For those considering purchasing but who have not yet initiated the process: there is no need to make any immediate decisions. We recommend waiting for the official clarifications before drawing conclusions. If Greece remains part of your plans, this is a good opportunity to discuss your options with us and understand how the announced changes may affect your particular circumstances.
We are monitoring the developments closely and will keep you informed every step of the way.
