🇬🇷📚 Greek medical schools are becoming increasingly international.

Greece is stepping up its efforts to attract international students, with English-language undergraduate medical programmes emerging as one of the country’s strongest offerings in the global higher-education market.

According to Kathimerini, around 900 international students are already studying medicine in English-language programmes at Greek universities, with annual tuition fees ranging from €12,000 to €15,000. Five of Greece’s seven medical schools currently offer such programmes, while the remaining two are expected to follow by 2027–28.

The newest programme, at the University of Patras, received 168 applications from 23 countries for just 50 places ahead of its launch this September.

Beyond attracting students, the expansion of English-language programmes is also bringing additional resources to universities, supporting infrastructure, research and greater international engagement.

Scope Ratings has upgraded Greece’s sovereign credit rating to **BBB+**, highlighting the country’s improved fiscal position, declining public debt and stronger economic resilience.

🚨 BREAKING: EU proposes unprecedented new relationship with Canada 🇪🇺🇨🇦

A major proposal from Brussels could reshape Canada–EU relations.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has invited Canada to explore becoming the EU’s first “associated member” — a new form of partnership that would stop short of full EU membership.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney was in the European Parliament as the proposal was announced.

🇬🇷 Greece | Property Transfer Tax Update

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has announced that the property transfer tax for buyers from outside the EU will increase from the current 3.09% to 15%, with the measure announced to take effect from July 2027.

While this is certainly significant news, we recommend remaining calm until the full details are officially clarified.

We are awaiting further information on the exact scope of the measure, implementation details and, importantly, any transitional provisions for transactions already underway.
