🇪🇺 Investing in Europe’s Competitiveness, Resilience and Cohesion
Ελληνική Αναπτυξιακή Τράπεζα - HDB CEO, Ismini Papakirillou, participated in the ELTI event in Brussels on 10 June 2026, joining Nicolas Dufourcq, CEO of Bpifrance, Miguel Alves, CFO of Banco Português de Fomento and Sotia Hajispyrou, MFF Attaché at the Permanent Representation of Cyprus to the EU in the panel “A robust MFF for a more competitive and sovereign Europe”, moderated by Darvas Zsolt, Senior Fellow at Bruegel.
The discussion focused on the future MFF, the role of National Promotional Banks and Institutions (NPBIs), and the importance of mobilising investments that strengthen Europe’s competitiveness, resilience and strategic autonomy.
💡 During the discussion, Ms. Papakirillou highlighted the increasingly strategic role of NPBIs in translating European priorities into tangible investments and measurable economic impact across Europe. She also underlined the importance of maintaining and further strengthening the use of financial instruments within the future MFF, as effective mechanisms for mobilising public and private capital and supporting sustainable growth.
She emphasized that cohesion and competitiveness must go hand in hand, ensuring that all regions can contribute to and benefit from Europe’s growth agenda. SMEs remain at the heart of Europe’s competitiveness agenda and require not only access to finance, but also support for innovation, digital transformation, and sustainability. 🌍🤝
