Nana Kwabena Afoom is a seasoned banking executive with over 24 years of progressive experience across corporate, commercial, SME, and retail banking. He has built a strong track record in business development, relationship management, portfolio growth, profitability, and risk management.
Prior to joining Access Bank Ghana, he served as Divisional Head, Corporate Banking at GT Bank Ghana, where he was responsible for driving corporate banking strategy, business growth, profitability, and portfolio quality. He previously held several senior leadership positions, including Group Head of SME Banking, Regional Head of Retail Banking, and Branch Head, reflecting a distinguished career marked by consistent performance and leadership excellence.
During his career, Nana has contributed significantly to governance and strategic decision-making as a member of several executive committees, including EXCO and ALCO, and as Management Representative on the Board Credit Committee.
He holds an MSc in International Economics, Banking and Finance from Cardiff Business School and a BSc in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ghana. He has also undertaken extensive executive education in leadership, risk management, ESG, corporate governance, and digital transformation, including completion of the McKinsey Executive Leadership Programme.
