This happened in Sunyani at Ecobank on the 27th of July 2015 when a Toyota Camry with Registration number BA 451-15 entered the banking hall about 10:29am. Three customers sustained injuries. Two of them were said to have sustained major injuries and the other one sustained a minor injury.

The car also damaged the tellers of the bank. However, none of the operators of the tellers got injured. Giving an account of the incident, the officer in charge of security at the bank, Mr Solomon Tetteh, said about 10:29 a.m. yesterday, a Toyota Camry parked in front of the bank, after which one of the two passengers on board got down and entered the banking hall to transact business. He said where the car was parked, blocked the way for other customers to access the bank premises.

Mr Tetteh said one of the security men approached the driver of the car to move it to a designated place in front of the bank to make way for others. According to him, the driver moved the car to where he was asked to do after that the security officer entered the bank to assist other customers.

He explained that while the security man was in the banking hall performing his duties, he saw the car moving slowly towards the entrance and so he came out to tell the driver to park it well.
Mr Tetteh said while the driver made an attempt to park the car well, it suddenly ran into the glass entrance and entered the banking hall, injuring the three persons and also damaging some of the teller points as a result.

He said policemen, who were on visibility duties close to the bank, were called, adding that the police in turn called the Fire Service to the scene to prevent any unforeseen event.
Mr Tetteh added that banking transactions came to a halt for more than an hour. Meanwhile, the police have towed the car to the Brong Ahafo Regional Police Headquarters to assist with investigations.
The manager of the bank refused to comment on the incident.
