Our MD wrapped up thanking participants and added that Our debt capital market must do more than finance government. โ€œWe should build a market that supports productive businesses, gives investors confidence, improves refinancing capacity, mobilises collateral efficiently, and widens access to long-term capital.โ€ She stated

The next phase will be defined not only by how much activity returns, but by how resilient, transparent, and inclusive that activity becomes.

Ladies and Gentlemen, just like its beginning, the next phase of the GFIM has to be built through the cooperation of the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Ghana, the Ghana Stock Exchange, the Central Securities Depository, the Financial Markets Association, the Ghana Association of Banks, the GFIM Dealers and the Investors- she concluded.

Debt Capital Markets are not simply a financing mechanism ,they are an important part of the country's financial stability architecture." Speaking at the Fidelity Bank Ghana Debt Capital Markets Conference, GSE Managing Director Abena Amoah laid out the case for Ghana's fixed income market as the backbone of the country's financing future.

Some of the highlights from her remarks:

๐Ÿ“ˆ Since GFIM's launch, corporate bond issuances have raised GHS24.4bn โ€” compared to GHS12.01bn through the Equity Market.

๐Ÿ“Š GFIM trading volume has grown from GHS5.2bn in 2015 to GHS255bn YTD through July 2026 โ€” surpassing the pre-DDEP peak of GHS230bn, after a dip to ~GHS98bn in 2023.

๐Ÿข 15 corporate bond issuers have accessed GFIM to date, with Petrosol Platinum Energy Solutions bringing the active issuer count to 8 this week. 7 previous issuers have fully retired their facilities.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Pension AUM has surpassed GHS120bn as of Q1 2026 (NPRA) โ€” institutional capital in search of credible investment alternatives.

Her closing message: "The future of our debt market is not just about raising capital โ€” it is about building the financial architecture that will fund Ghana's next decade of growth."
