Rentvesting is simply buying property where you can afford it and renting where you can’t afford to buy. Rentvesting allows you to buy a less expensive place, letting it and taking the proceeds to rent in your ideal location.
Many of us own homes in our villages or in the places where we grew up but because a house is an immovable asset, it is essentially rendered unusable by you, once you find you have to change locations.
Take Ghana for example; a four-bedroom property in Kumasi can go for about $120,000 in a very good location. That same $120,000 will take you very far out if you try to do so in Accra. All the way to Kasoa and its environs.
You, the investor, neither wants to live in Kumasi or Kasoa, but you want to own property in your budget, so what do you do? Buy your property where your money will afford, then let it out and get a smaller place in a much better location.
