📦 Imagine posting yourself to another island...

Our latest stamp issue, Man Posted to..., tells the incredible true story of two men who did exactly that, with one travelling to Alderney and the other to Sark by post!

We couldn't resist recreating the concept with a modern twist, so we staged a photoshoot to see what it might look like if it happened today.

📮 The Man Posted to... Alderney

In February 1940, with wartime travel restrictions making the ferry to Alderney nearly impossible to book, Major "Peabod" Palmer had spent two weeks trying to reach his family. So he found a loophole in the Post Office Guide and asked to be posted himself! Officials couldn't find a rule against it, so Palmer was weighed, assigned a postal es**rt, and made the crossing as part of the mail.

Did you know? Palmer's journey was the last of its kind, the Post Office soon tightened its regulations to make sure no one else could try it!

📮 The Man Posted to... Sark

In 1905, Guernsey resident Harry Turner made postal history, he asked to be sent through the post, and the Post Office said yes! Escorted by a telegraph messenger as regulations required, Harry became the first person ever delivered by mail, sailing to Sark before enjoying a carriage drive and lunch at the Dixcart Hotel before heading back home the same day.

Did you know? The whole adventure cost Harry just five shillings and ten pence. hardly a bargain fare, but for Harry, it was never about the cost!

🐐 Meet one of Guernsey's most iconic (and endangered) breeds!

Our newest issue celebrates the Royal Golden Guernsey Goat — instantly recognisable by its golden coat and upturned ears. Despite its Royal recognition, fewer than 2,000 of these rare goats are believed to exist today, with dedicated breeders like Mr and Mrs Girard of the Guernsey Goat Farm working hard to protect the breed for future generations.

Did you know? Their coats can range from pale blonde to rich bronze, often with a distinctive white marking on the head!
