🌧️ STORM AUSTEN – ARE YOU PREPARED? 💨

With Storm Austen expected to bring strong winds and heavy rain to Guernsey from Thursday evening into Friday, now is a good time to take a few simple precautions to help protect your home and property.

🏡 A few things to check before the storm arrives:

🔵 Secure garden furniture, bins, trampolines and other loose outdoor items.
🔵 Check that gates, fences and sheds are secure.
🔵 Clear gutters and drains of leaves and debris where safe to do so.
🔵 Move vehicles away from trees and other potential hazards where possible.
🔵 Make sure windows and doors are properly closed and secured.

✈️ Planning to travel?
Storm Austen may also cause disruption to flights and ferry services. Check with your travel provider for the latest updates. If your flight is cancelled, contact your airline in the first instance to discuss your options.

🎭🥂 A FANTASTIC EVENING AT THE YBG MASQUERADE BALL!

A big thank you to the Young Business Group (YBG) for organising such a wonderful evening at The Old Government House Hotel!

Our Mortgage Manager, Jenna Senior, and Personal Lines Manager, Becca Johns-Ogier, had a fantastic time hosting a table on behalf of Oracle, enjoying an evening of great company, entertainment and plenty of laughs!

It was lovely to catch up with familiar faces, make some new connections and support such a fantastic local event.

Meet Michelle... 👋

Michelle joined Oracle in October 2026 as a Trainee Receptionist/Administrator.

With a background in hospitality, Michelle was ready for a new challenge and joined Oracle for the opportunity to learn new skills. In her role, she supports the team with reception and administration duties and enjoys meeting and greeting our clients and visitors.

Outside of work, Michelle loves sea swimming, spending time outdoors, boating and fishing. She’s also a qualified chef and enjoys cooking and baking - although one of her proudest achievements is becoming a National Judo Champion and earning her black belt!

Meet Darshi... 👋

Darshi joined Oracle in September 2026 as a Mortgage Administrator.

After more than three years working in retail, Darshi was keen to move into the financial sector and build a long-term career where she could put her qualifications to use.

As part of our mortgage team, she supports clients throughout the mortgage process and is enjoying developing her knowledge and experience in the industry, with the goal of becoming a qualified Mortgage Advisor in the future.

Outside of work, Darshi enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling, exploring new places and cooking.

Our Mortgage Manager, Jenna Senior, and Personal Lines Manager, Becca Johns-Ogier, are looking forward to hosting a table on behalf of Oracle at the Young Business Group's Autumn Masquerade Ball at the OGH this evening!

With an evening of dining, entertainment and dancing ahead, including a spot of musical bingo in aid of Guernsey Mind, it promises to be a fantastic occasion.

🏃 Team Oracle takes on the Butterfield Half Marathon!

Paul Patterson and Jenna Senior took on the 13.1 mile route along Guernsey’s coastline, from L’Eree to St Peter Port.

Paul finished in 1:47:31 and Jenna in 2:13:53. Jenna even made it to the start line after losing a toenail beforehand – ouch! 😅

At Oracle, we’re proud to support our team in their training, fitness and wellbeing goals. Here they are before and after the race – congratulations to you both! 👏

At our quarterly staff meeting on 7th August, we were delighted to announce the second quarterly winners of our 'Nominate a Colleague' initiative.

🏆 Congratulations to both Tabby & Joni!

This quarter, both were recognised by their colleagues for going above and beyond in supporting the team.

Tabby was nominated for:

💬 “Really helpful when I have a question and never hesitates to pick up the phone”.

🛡️ Stuart’s story | Life and critical illness cover

“My wife and I had life and critical illness cover in place when she was diagnosed with cancer. The critical illness payout meant we could focus on her treatment, spend time together and make memories without financial worry.”

Sadly, following his wife’s death, Stuart received a life insurance payout that covered a large portion of their mortgage, helping to provide longer-term security for him and his two young boys.

“Without it, I would have had to sell our home and life would have been very different for me and our two young boys.”
