On July 1, 2023, the order of the President of the National Bank of Georgia on the rules for registration and regulation of a virtual asset service provider with the NBG came into force in Georgia.

Important to know:
✅ A virtual asset service provider can be ONLY a legal entity (limited liability company or joint stock company) established and registered in accordance with the legislation of Georgia, which, after registration, is granted the right to provide virtual asset services in Georgia by the National Bank;
✅ The virtual asset service provider is obliged to submit the relevant registration documents to the agency within 90 calendar days;
✅ The cost of registering a virtual asset service provider is 5000 GEL (~$1938).
✅ The National Bank will maintain the registration register of virtual asset service providers in electronic form and enter the registration data of the virtual asset service provider into it within 2 working days after the decision on registration is made.

What is prohibited:
❌ It is forbidden to provide services in the field of virtual assets by a person who is not a service provider
virtual assets registered by the National Bank or is not a representative of the financial sector, authorized to provide services in relation to virtual assets by the legislation governing the activity.
❌ It is forbidden to lend virtual assets to individuals.
❌ It is not allowed to provide virtual asset services through an agent.
❌Virtual Asset Service Provider is prohibited from receiving commission, interest or any monetary or non-monetary benefit from any person other than the user in managing a portfolio of convertible virtual assets.

Cryptoscams? Where does it start and how to protect yourself?

Hundreds of variations of fraud methods have already grown into a truly frightening scale.
Because of that the ignorant begin to perceive the entire cryptocurrency market as a complete scam.

We are introducing a column with the hashtag , where analyze various schemes used by scammers in the cryptocurrency market in Georgia.

While fraudsters are constantly improving their methods, adapting to the rapidly changing digital world, constantly finding new ways to exploit vulnerabilities, we will talk about our experience and ways to protect ourselves from cyber threats.

Let's start with the last case, how we prevented a fraud attempt in our branch office, in Batumi.

So called scheme "triangle" is not something new: the fraudster introduces himself/herself as a client in front of the exchanger and an exchanger in front of the client, while indicating his/her wallet for transfer.

"Triangle" can work in several cases:
🚩 Inattention or haste on the part of the client;
🚩 Non-observance by the exchanger of a single transaction processing protocol without any exceptions;
🚩 Lack of client's verification system.

❗️ In our case, such fraud is impossible, even if the client turned out to be inattentive.
✅We strictly adhere to the protocol and do not conduct transactions outside of our ravestag.app platform and without client verification.
