One of the questions I’m asked the most is ‘how much can I borrow?’ Here’s a quick breakdown of what you can usually borrow and how lenders calculate your affordability!👇

Most UK lenders will let you borrow up to 4.5 times your annual income, but it’s not one size fits all. Some lenders will lend more than this (eg up to 5.5x your income) if you earn above a certain amount 💼

They’ll look at:
✔️ Your income (this can sometimes include benefits, child maintenance, bonuses, overtime)
✔️ Your outgoings (like loans, credit cards, car finance, childcare)
✔️ If you have any dependants (eg children)
✔️ Your credit history
✔️ The size of your deposit

Every lender is different, so what you can borrow with one might not be the same with another.
