⚠️ DIRECTORS LOAN ACCOUNT ⚠️
Just because the business bank account has money in it, doesn’t mean it’s all yours to spend and using company money for personal spending can leave you with an overdrawn Director’s Loan Account (DLA).
That balance needs to be repaid or cleared properly. If it remains overdrawn, your company may also face an S455 tax charge. (Which is hefty)
And if you need to take extra dividends to clear the loan? That extra income could push you into the higher-rate tax bracket. 🤦🏻♂️
A little planning now could help you avoid an overdrawn DLA, an S455 charge and a much bigger personal tax bill later.
