Wymondham AC Wymondham Athletic Club (AKA WAC for obvious reasons) - competitive & inclusive all rolled into one! Our race calendar includes a number of team events.

Wymondham Athletic Club (referred to as WAC for obvious reasons) is primarily a road running club, with members participating in road running races all over the UK (and the occasional overseas marathon and half marathon), but we also take part in off-road/trail runs and the local cross country leagues. WAC caters for all standards, from beginner (our only requirement is that you can run 5k - eg a Parkrun - without stopping) to advanced. We pride ourselves on helping and encouraging our members to achieve their running goals and sharing in their sense of achievement when they do. We meet Monday evenings (except Bank Holidays) at Ketts Park Community Centre, Harts Farm Road, Wymondham NR18 0UR from 6.30pm. Announcements are at 6.45pm and we are out running by 7.00pm. Sessions are geared to match all abilities and are coordinated and supervised by our team of experienced and qualified coaches.

We're supporting Let's Lift the Curfew again this year.

The national campaign, led by This Girl Can, aims to support women to stay active in the darker months.

Launched to coincide with the clocks going back, the campaign aims to highlight the challenges some women face when running after dark.

Our club night, on Monday 26 October, will include a women's only 5k group run and a walk. If you're interested in joining us for a supportive and fun run or walk on the night, please see the link in the comments for more details.

We're in the thick of the autumn races and we had some strong performances last weekend.

👑 Firstly, congratulations to Eva Osborne on achieving another British record at the Westminster Mile. The event, on the last mile of the London Marathon course, saw four more of our runners race towards Buckingham Palace, with Kate Gooding running a PB.
We also had age group PBs for Todd Lake and Jason Mattless in the 10k event, with Todd achieving club records at both events!

🏰 At our more local royal residence, we had 8 runners take on the Sandringham Half Marathon and 2 in the 5k. Well done!

🇩🇪 Over in Germany, Rose Waterman had a great run at the Berlin Marathon, in spite of a recent injury.

🔔 And back in Norfolk we had PBs for James Preston, Lisa Greengrass and Hannah John at the Bure Valley 10. Great running in slightly windy conditions.

🏃‍♀️ Tracy Stevens also completed her 80th half marathon, in Ipswich Half, whilst Lian Penson ran another half marathon on the Wensum Way.

Great running from all of our WACers!

This week's race highlights include another strong turnout for the mid week EACCL, half marathons in Copenhagen and London, the Marriott's Way 10k. and the Norfolk Coastal half and full marathons.

🏖 Well done to the 11 WACers that completed the full coastal marathon and the 6 competing in the half, on a tough but beautiful course.

🧜‍♀️ We had 7 club members over in Denmark, for the Copenhagen half, with Ian Moore and Richard Greenwood both achieving PBs and Suzanne Moore running an age group PB. Congratulations to them.

🛤 Back in Norfolk, Charmaine Negm ran a PB in the Marriott's Way 10k, and Sharon Gardner ran an age group PB.

🏃‍♀️ Meanwhile, Kate Gooding achieved an age group PB at the Shoreditch Half Marathon.

🏆 Finally, a huge well done to the 12 WACers who took part in the midweek summer cross country league, at Dereham, and brought home silverware as league winners.

Looking back to the amazing logistical feat that is the Round Norfolk Relay.

We had teams competing in the mixed and open categories, carrying their batons over 17 stages and nearly 200 miles. All of our runners did us proud and, most importantly, got round safely and with smiles on their faces (at least once they'd recovered). A huge thank you to our brilliant support crews and all those involved in putting on what is a highlight of the running calendar.

Elsewhere we had 8 runners at the Great North Run, with Simone Hornby achieving a PB on her birthday.

We also had WACers at the Backyard Ultra, in Thetford, and the Zig Zag Peacock Plod. Well done to all our runners.

We're a bit behind with celebrating our runners' achievements, so apologies for the long post.
We've had a hilly, colourful, slightly tipsy couple of weeks of running, with WACers taking part in events from 5ks to ultra marathons.

⭐️ Congratulations first of all to Louise McDonnell, Ian Moore and Lisa Greengrass for achieving new age group PBs at the Dereham 10 miler.
🏃‍♀️ Well done to Kirstina Standley for running a new PB at North Walsham 5k.
🏔 Massive kudos to Alison Armstrong and Matt Webster for completing the UTMB OCC 60k, across the Alps.
👏 Adam Grint ran a PB at the Hainford 5k.
🍷 We had Caroline Pocock, Rachael Lockwood and Wendy Burgess complete the Marathon du Medoc.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Hannah Grobbelaar ran the Sea2Sky race - 54k up Snowden.
🐼 84 of our WACers took part in Run Norwich, with Zac Sowter and Stephen Houghton achieving PBs, Matt Webster running as a panda and Lian Penson, Nigel Bradley, Sylvia Webster, Dennis Carter and Morna Dason-Barber achieving age group PBs. Congratulations!

Over the last couple of weeks, we've also had runnners pull on the pink vest at the Reykjavik 10k, Bedford 20, Africa Alive 5k, Lowestoft Scores and Zig Zag FEAR races. Well done everyone.

Finally, good luck to everyone taking part in the Round Norfolk Relay this weekend!

🌞 We had 19 runners turn out for the Great Yarmouth half marathon on a very hot day, with Heath Alexander-Bew coming away with a new age group PB.

⬆️ In the north, we had Lyn Lyn competing in the Blackpool 10k.

🏊‍♂️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♀️ And last, but very definitely not least we had Harriet Carr, Kim Reader, Jules Kennelly and Hannah Woodhouse with incredible performances at the Copenhagen Ironman.

We've had some scorching conditions for racing in recent weeks, but our WACers have continued to put in some brilliant performances, across a range of distances.

We had 28 runners at the popular Worstead 5 miler, with age group PBs for Adam Baker, Louise McDonnell and Lisa Rodgers.

Snetterton saw 24 of our contingent take to the racing track for the 5 and 10k races.

We've also had runners at the Woodford Green AC 10k, Bedford Aerodrome 10k and York 10k.

Fantastic running in tough conditions! Well done everyone getting out there and (safely) getting the miles in in the heat.
