We were established in 2001 and have offices in the City of London, Worcester and Bristol SJL is a business insurance brokerage insuring tens of billions of pounds worth of assets every year from across the world. SJL is based in the City of London, Bristol and Worcester but transact business all over the UK and globally, with tens of thousands of clients. Our continued success has also been based on recognising, developing and investing in our staff. Should the ban on drinking alcohol in the stands at football matches be lifted?

Our founder, Simon Lancaster spoke to the BBC about the debate sharing why he believes it is time to reconsider the current restrictions.

Simon brings an interesting perspective to the conversation. As owner of Worcester City FC, he has first-hand experience of non-league football, where supporters can enjoy a drink while watching the game. As a lifelong Liverpool fan, he also regularly experiences the very different rules in place higher up the football pyramid.

Drawing on both experiences, Simon discusses why he believes supporters should be trusted to enjoy a drink responsibly while watching their team and questions whether the existing ban is still appropriate for the modern game.

This year marks a very special milestone for SJL Insurance as we celebrate 25 years since the business was incorporated.

From where we started to the business we are today, it has been an incredible journey of growth, development and change – and one that simply wouldn’t have been possible without the people around us.

Helping young people gain that all-important first step into the workplace is vital – but employers also need the confidence and support to give them that opportunity.

Our CEO Simon Lancaster spoke to LBC about the challenges facing young people entering employment, following the announcement that some of Britain’s biggest retailers will offer 11,000 work experience placements to 18 to 24-year-olds receiving Universal Credit.

Simon welcomed the initiative and the experience it can provide, while highlighting a wider challenge: the rising cost for businesses of taking a chance on someone with little or no previous workplace experience.

A fantastic night for Worcester City FC!

Ahead of last night’s FA Cup qualifying round replay against Knowle, SJL Insurance Services’ Simon Lancaster spoke to BBC News Midlands Today about what the FA Cup means to clubs like Worcester City.

Simon reflected on the history and magic of the competition, as well as the journey Worcester City have been on in recent years – from successive promotions to the club’s move to Sixways Stadium and the progress being made both on and off the pitch.

And what a way to round off the evening, with a fantastic win at Sixways to secure Worcester City’s place in the Second Qualifying Round.

Next up in the FA Cup: a home tie against Stratford Town.
