Meet Richard Booth – Mortgage & Protection Advisor at Advice Plain and Simple
For most of us, buying a home or protecting our family’s future can feel like navigating a minefield of jargon, stress, and uncertainty. That’s why Richard Booth stands out.

Q&A with Richard
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
1: Know your value – if you feel your product/services offer real value to your customers, don’t be afraid to charge what you believe this is worth.
2: Be yourself at all times – pretending to be someone you’re not can be exhausting and unstainable. When you’re yourself, your decisions tend to be more fulfilling and aligned with your values and what makes you happy. You’ll also attract the sort of people that you would prefer to work with. Stay true to yourself, own your quirks and be okay with not being like by everyone
Tell us about your career journey
My first proper job was at a firm of accountants, where I qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser and became manager of a busy tax department helping a variety of personal and business clients. Having always wanted to run my own business, I left the tax world behind to become co-owner and director of a successful software company providing an industry leading solution to the automotive industry. Fast forward to today and I’m now working as mortgage and protection adviser. My past experiences and knowledge are very helpful in this industry as I can add real value to my customers and collaborative partners.
What do you love most about your work?
I love being able to find solutions for customers who think they are not in a position to buy a house! A good mortgage adviser like myself will take the time to understand someone’s situation, undertake detailed research and deliver the best outcome. It is also very satisfying to ensure that customers are properly protected in the event of any unforeseen life events, such as illness, that helps them to avoid unnecessary financial difficulties and remain in their home.
Fun fact about you!
In my spare time, I enjoy running and playing the drums. I am also an dedicated supporter of Everton FC and enjoy going to watch them play as often as I can.
Why did you join TOP Networking?
I have always enjoyed networking and was looking for a group which met regularly. The relaxed nature of the TOP approach allows genuine connections to be made and for relationships and trust to build over time without the pressure of forcing sales and referrals to members.
