But if it was real, that would of been a TD5.
Exeter RPU were keen to give this motorist a tug after spotting what appeared to be a tank being towed without any form of securing equipment and hogging the overtaking lane whilst well under the speed limit.
At first glance the officers thought that this was a lightweight plywood recreation for military reenactments, they were mortified to realise that this was in fact the full 21 tonnes of soviet steel being dragged along by a Land Rover Defender.
After a rolling roadblock was put in place, the vehicle was escorted very carefully to a weighbridge where it clocked in at a staggering 16,228kg (yes you read that correctly, 16.2 TONNES) over the maximum train weight.
The vehicle was immediately prohibited from further travel and the driver arrested for driving without due care and attention amongst a slew of other road traffic offences.
Driving an overladen vehicle massively reduces braking ability, if it wasn't for the commercial brakes fitted to the agricultural flatbed trailer, we don't believe this vehicle would have stopped at all, if you are in doubt about your vehicle's towing capacity, please refer to the manufacturer's specifications. "If it's on its gone" is not a good enough excuse.
