Fenland Food Fest is happening this weekend on Saturday 5th September right here at the Queen Mary Centre. A celebration of food producers and suppliers in the fens! So much to see, do and of course...eat! With local food vendors including honey, cheese, w**e, c***r, meat, preserves, market garden produce, b**r, bread, cakes, hot crumble, goat curry, black pudding, jerk chicken, gourmet wraps, barista coffee, cookery demonstrations, food talks, fun for the kids and FREE ENTRY. Come and join us from 10am-3pm.

We had the loveliest day last week — and we just had to share it with you. 🍳🌿

It started at the Ferry Project Cookery School with a sit-down breakfast of ham, egg and chips. Simple, warm, and exactly the kind of thing that brings people together around a table.

Then a small group of us did something we’d been meaning to do for a while — we walked across the River Nene and visited Peckover House, the National Trust’s stunning Georgian house right on Wisbech’s North Brink. We can see it from Ferry Project, so it felt like it was about time!

We spent time in the walled gardens (absolutely gorgeous), stopped for ice cream in the café, and rounded the afternoon off with a guided tour of the house — which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

Days like these matter so much. For the people we support, getting out, exploring the local area, and enjoying a proper afternoon together is about more than just a nice trip — it builds confidence, reduces isolation, and creates the kinds of shared memories that help bind a community together.

We’re proud to call Wisbech home — and even prouder to help people discover its hidden gems. 💚

Fenland Food Festival is not to be missed! Saturday 5th September is jam-packed full of great food, fun for the family, live music, cookery demos and talks, free have-a-go-cookery and entry is also completely free! We already have 15 local food vendors confirmed with more on the way... Come and enjoy a taste of the Fens.

This morning we visited the BBC Radio Cambridgeshire studios where we were live on Chris Mann's show talking about They Ferry Project Cookery School and Fenland Food Festival happening this Saturday in wisbech 10am until 3pm at the Queen Mary Centre. Free entry.

HOW CAN I HELP THOSE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS IN THE LONG-TERM?

Volunteer - Local charities, shelters, and food banks often need volunteers to help with cooking, serving, or companionship.

Donate Money - Regular, small donations to reputable charities are very useful.

Campaign and Advocate - Support campaigns that work to change the policies that cause homelessness, such as increasing affordable housing.

Donate Goods - Contact Wisbech Donations Hub to ask what items they are currently accepting (e.g. cookers, wardrobes, bedding) before dropping them off.

This year, Ferry Project helped 26 people move into new homes, supported over 130 people through homelessness, and provided nearly 30,000 nights of safe accommodation in Fenland.
