Great to meet up with Ben Berry the Managing Director of English Lakes Hotels at Low Wood Bay.

We discussed the many challenges and opportunities for UK tourism and Cumbria tourism in particular.

It was an opportunity for me to give some insight into my plans if elected Mayor to an industry leader in a sector that employs 28% of the Cumbrian people.

I re-stated that I will not be implementing Labour’s proposed tourist tax which would significantly add to the severe financial pressure on Cumbrian tourism businesses and supply chains.

There will be no tourist tax in Cumbria under a Conservative Mayor.
