Two days make a difference! 💜

Tomorrow it's International Day of Charity, we're celebrating the difference our colleagues make in our communities.

At the West Brom, every colleague gets two paid volunteering days each year to support causes that matter to them and make a positive impact.

From maintaining green spaces at Queen Alexandra Colleague and Sandwell Valley, to litter picking in communities around Shirley and helping to wrap Christmas presents for families, women, and men who are supported by Black Country Women's Aid, to bring some joy to their festive season, our colleagues have been rolling up their sleeves and giving back in meaningful ways.

We’ve just wrapped up on ‘Family Fun’ week! 🎉

Oswestry, Shrewsbury, Welshpool, and Newtown ran this exciting activity in branches and a pop-up where customers could come in and talk about our savings and mortgages products, with some colouring competitions for their little ones too.

This was a fantastic week full of educating children on the importance of saving for their big dreams, whilst also connecting with our local communities more too 💜

A few weeks ago, Cape Hill’s community room officially opened! 🎉

We celebrated with a launch event in partnership with National Literacy Trust,
where we had some delicious food and offered free books to our local community.
Margaret Sutton, the Mayor of Sandwell, cut the ribbon for the opening!

We’re proud to say our community rooms are a safe space in our local areas for
groups, charities and neighbours to connect or host events.

We also have other community rooms available in our Tipton, Bearwood,
Shrewsbury, Perry Barr and Kingstanding branches for all to use 💜

Last week we hosted Jericho Foundation Skills Day at our Head Office! 📚

As our Charity of the Year partner, Jericho’s social enterprises play a vital role in helping people who are facing extreme challenges in getting a job. We’re proud to support their work by offering our time, expertise, and resources.

Through Jericho Skills Day, we delivered different workshops in a range of areas including CV and employability skills, financial education, and careers advice.

We look forward to strengthening our partnership through more opportunities like skills day 💛

Earlier this month, we awarded Wollescote Bowls Club with £500 from our Mercian Trust Community grant 🎉

Thanks to our customers saving in our Community Account, we’re able to grant local community groups and charities with funds to support their projects and initiatives.

Wollescote Bowls Club will use their grant to develop their Community Bowls Programme through training more coaches, safeguarding officers and first aiders to reach more local groups and schools. We can’t wait to see the wonderful work this grant will do 💜
