Big change for letting agents from 2026 🐾

The Renters' Rights Act gives tenants the right to request a pet — and landlords have just 42 days to respond. Miss that deadline and consent is granted automatically.

Blanket "no pets" clauses are no longer enforceable. Every request has to be considered on its own merits, and any refusal must be reasonable.

The good news? Landlords can still protect themselves — by requiring pet damage insurance as a condition of saying yes.
