As summer is upon us , take a moment to consider a few things and insurance.

Weddings and prom cars , Airport transfer and taxis . Social media can 'big up' firms making them look very professional but recently we came across an Airport Transfer driver booking direct and not via their operator so insurance was invalid.

Other instances have been wedding and prom cars without hire and reward insurance and under private policies.

It may save you a few pounds and 99 percent of the time nothing will happen but that 1 percent when it does could be an issue -

Eg - An accident where passengers are injured , insurance will be invalid . The vehicle stopped randomly at roadside by the police , are you going to pretend it's your friend giving you a lift ? This scenario could be embarrassing for the happy couple .

Running late for the airport and vehicle is stopped roadside and seized - that's your flight missed.

Always ask when booking to see their insurance and keep a copy for your records , if they can't produce it or it does not state 'hire and reward' then walk away immediately and report to local licensing authorities.

Always good to be safe than sorry.

Stay legal and stay insured !!

8.20am call from a Multi Academy Trust who had a school join them on 01 Sept and have realised just now that they have not insured their 3 minibuses and a trip departing at 10am. Not fleet rated as they have always opted for Individual policies.

Can you arrange this for us ?
For when ?
For now ?!!

9.25am and all covered and vehicles all legal and can hit the road.

Insurance may be boring but some of it is a legal requirement ..

RAAC in schools …

RAAC – which stands for Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete – is a type of lightweight, ‘bubbly’ concrete made from cement, lime, water and an aeration agent, which was used in buildings constructed between the 1950s and the 1990s.

The strength qualities are questionable and this is why these have been identified for replacement .

With 150 schools already identified for works needed and more to come , we are resourced and ready to cover the contracts either via a direct approach or from an approved framework.

As always .. the more lead time the better but always here to help as it’s our area of expertise

Silly season has now officially begun with eduction CIF funding projects starting for the summer .

This week we have placed £3.5M worth of building works and not stopped for one minute.

Projects have ranged from a full asbestos removal and re-roof removal , heating replacement and full six form centre build from the ground up.

As holiday season starts we are averaging a Client Manager away for the next Month but we have the insurers all geared up for quick turnarounds.

Please get the requests into us when the ink is wet on the JCT Contract to ensure you are meeting your contractual conditions.

We will be attending the Academies show in Nov at the NEC and exhibiting. We are also preparing some Q and A’s to assist on cover for projects.

As the season approaches for builds .. a reminder to check your JCT contract conditions to see if you .. the employer is responsible for arranging the Insurances .

5 started projects to place this morning where these points had been missed .. but we found a solution for the School clients.

Don’t leave it until last minute to arrange the covers , especially around busy time , get the quote in place as soon as the CIF is agreed.
