Our Craftsman scheme was developed by Ian, from an idea in 1986, after receiving requests from crafters seeking public liability cover whilst attending craft shows and similar. Over the past decade, Ian has been joined by his daughters, Naomi and Samantha, so Ian W Wallace Limited is now a truly family run business, based in Dorset. We treat our clients as we would like to be treated, so offer a f

riendly and helpful service to all of our clients. Our buy online service means that our clients can obtain cover quickly and efficiently, but because we are here to deal with the day to day administration, general queries, and to provide assistance about our scheme, our clients still have the option to speak to us if they would like to. Should you be unfortunate, and need to make a claim, we think it important that you should be able to speak to the Insurer directly. In this way, the “stress” is taken out of an already stressful situation. Any claims are speedily handled by Hiscox Underwriting Ltd. Please note we do not give advice to Clients. We will happily provide information on the Craft Insurance Scheme to enable our clients to make an informed decision as to whether it meets their own demands and needs. Wallace Ltd acts as an Independent General Insurance Intermediary for the selling of the CRAFTSMAN INSURANCE SCHEME only and is Authorised and Regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We are also registered under the Data Protection Act 1988 and Consumer Credit Act 1974. The scheme is underwritten by Hiscox Underwriting Ltd, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and Hiscox Insurance Company Ltd is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and Prudential Regulation Authority. New blog post up! Read Why Traditionally Made Knives are a Cut Above…
It’s something we use several times a day, without which no civilisation would be able to develop and central to several professions. Let’s talk about the humble knife. Whether it be a table knife for tucking into our dinner, a butcher’s or chef’s knife for preparing our food, or a pocketknife, reminiscent of those essential for our hunter gatherer forebears, we could not live without them. Here at Craft Insurance, we are proud to support clients who are traditional knife makers, keeping skills alive which have been honed and passed down through generations…🧵🧶

New blog post up! Read Candle Holders and Pottery Insurance…

Despite the gradual cooling of the temperature and waning of long summer days, it still feels very much like summer is not over yet. The slightly crisper weather beckons us outdoors to enjoy the sunshine and late summer colours. However, as craft business owners, it is definitely not too early to begin filling shelves with Christmas stock. It isn’t always easy to cast our minds forward to cold days and cosy evenings, so we’ve come up with a few ideas to be a springboard for further creativity…🧵🧶

New blog post up! Read When the Rains Come…

After so many months of dry weather, it’s not just farmers who are looking forward to some good, soaking British drizzle (though with the vagaries of our weather, we may well be longing for blue skies by March next year!). The first rainfall after a prolonged time of dry weather brings with it a wonderful sensory explosion; the smell of the rain on the parched soil, the feel of the warm, wet drops on our skin, the sight of a sky swirling with deep, heavy rain clouds and the imperceptible sound of stillness as the earth is gently drenched with life giving water.…🧵🧶

New blog post up! Read The Best Cover for you Coverings…

The armchair. Let’s hear it for this unsung and often ill-used hero of most of our homes. After a long day at work what is better than to flop into our favourite armchair with a mug of tea and breathe a deep sigh before beginning on dinner prep. It is there at the beginning of the day too as we waken up and maybe take a window of calm before we head out into the day.…🧵🧶

New blog post up! Read 'Is Your Home Workshop Safe?'

For many crafters, home is more than just where the heart is, it's where their business began and where it still lives! Some are hand-pouring candles in the kitchen or creating resin jewellery in a garden studio while others are stitching personalised gifts in a spare room that could always do with a clear-out that never quite happens...🧵🧶

New blog post up! Read Crafting in the Heat…

As our beautiful sunny weather continues and hasn’t turned to rain as soon as children and teachers alike pour out of school for their well earned summer holidays (as is too often the case) maybe we can dare to imagine another few weeks of glorious sunshine. While the lack of rain presents challenges for our hard-pressed farmers and garden lovers, for many the opportunity for a family camping holiday without battling with soggy tents and soaked waterproofs, for children to play easily outdoors and for all to slip on sandals rather than rain resistant boots is welcome…🧵🧶

Such a straightforward process in providing cover for my very small business, I was glad to have found you and will certainly recommend to friends and other crafters. I think it’s important to have cover no matter if you are just starting out, now I can sleep easy knowing I’m completely covered. Many thanks.

New blog post up! Read Finding the Best Marketplaces for Artisans…

As a skilled crafter you will know that creating beautiful, high-quality products is only half the challenge of running a successful crafting business. You need to get your stunning products out in the marketplace for customers to see and buy. Marketing is an ongoing process and it’s good to evaluate and update your strategies periodically. With a wide range of online platforms as well numerous…🧵🧶
