“Your ability to manage your emotions when you see the markets go down is something that you pick up from your parents in early years.
You watch what they do with their feelings.
Do they drink when they’re sad or smoke when they’re stressed or lash out when they’re angry — or do they manage to control those feelings and not act on them?
That’s really important for future investors because the No 1 skill that you’ll need is not a maths skill but the ability to stay calm in times of turbulence and not change the plan just because you’re feeling worried.”
