Green Bean E-cohaus We're looking for land in South Gloucestershire to build a co-housing eco village. If you know anyone who would consider selling land please get in touch

12 friends, all young professionals, have come together as a collective to seek better ways of living. Architect Cerianne and 3D modeller Mike, a partnership in life and business, have brought the like-minded group together to explore the opportunity of a joint investment into a Passivhaus development of 7 ultra-low energy homes. The 7 households will buy in to the scheme which will focus around environmentally low impact, healthy living in a rural location sharing communal facilities which could not be realised alone due to monetary constraints and maintenance. Together the group strive for an improved lifestyle, which can be replicated by similar groups in the future. Suitable for off grid locations, the development will showcase state of the art energy storage technologies. The scheme will be afforded collectively via a creative approach to self-build finance through private investment and/or mortgage company. Scheme completion is anticipated late 2018.

After it was refused planning permission by South Gloucestershire Council, our planning appeal for a scheme to transform derelict asbestos clad sheds and concreted yard into 7 x self build Passivhaus homes with land for home grown produce was validated on 13th July. 22 weeks since submission we have not heard *anything at all* from the Planning Inspectorate. Can't help but feel a sense of !

We've just heard back from PINS (planning appeal people) on our pilot scheme planning application which we are having to appeal. They've said the wait is 18 weeks from registration just to the start....It's insanely long.... we submitted it on 4th July. Unfortunately this means it will be next year before we even know if this project will happen!

'The traditional model of house building needs to change' Hefin David mentioned Green Roots E-cohaus in Welsh parliament last week (thanks Hefin)! Click the link below for a 1 minute snippet!

The National Assembly for Wales is the democratically elected body that represents the interests of Wales and its people, makes laws for Wales, agrees Welsh taxes and holds the Welsh Government to account.

This is extremely demoralising and highlights some of the issues we're up against with the planning system in this country (not to suggest they've all got cuddly friends or share these views!).

A conservation planner is accused of holding up projects for months on an apparent whim.

Some bad news for a Monday morning!! Our Passivhaus Self-build community project has been refused planning after an 8 month long process! The good news is we've got some good press coverage and we will be fighting on with an appeal process and I will be taking the issues we've come across much higher! Watch this space!
