Turning 36 has given me a new perspective. Realising my mum was only 36 when she died makes me appreciate every opportunity I have. POV: You’re on holiday in the Maldives… & even the bus driver knows the mileage rate has gone up 😂☀️🚌

If you use your personal car for business journeys, including EVs - you can now claim:

✅ 55p per mile for the first 10,000 business miles
✅ 25p per mile after that

& yes… this applies whether you drive a Tesla, a family car, or your trusty run-around 🚗⚡️

As a Limited Company Director, this means you can reimburse yourself tax-free from your business for every business mile travelled 🙌

2026 so far… 🤍

This year has pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best possible way.

From speaking at workshops and networking events to supporting hundreds of incredible small business owners behind the scenes… I’ve realised that people don’t just need help with numbers.

They need support.
Reassurance.
Confidence.
Someone in their corner.

& as a working mum building a business alongside family life, there have definitely been moments of chaos, cold coffees, self-doubt and late nights too 🫶

But honestly? I’m really proud of how far Swan Books has come already this year.

Thank you to every client, workshop attendee, supporter and fellow business owner who’s been part of the journey so far 🤍

We’re only just getting started.

A little glimpse into the reality behind the business… ✨

My day started at 4:30am answering emails and getting work done before the chaos of the morning began. One early-rising little one later, breakfast made, uniforms on and school run complete… then straight into a full day visiting clients in their clinics, salons & spas and a surprise visit of a new premises 🤍

Today included meeting with existing clients and visiting a brand new academy and clinic, talking all things:
✨ business growth
✨ mindset
✨ staffing
✨ structure
✨ profit goals
✨ becoming more tax efficient
✨ reinvesting into yourself & the business

Always good to see my lovely clients ✨





Some days are long, loud and non-stop balancing business and mum life with 3 small children… but I genuinely wouldn’t change it. I feel so lucky to work with such inspiring business owners every day and be part of their journey. 🫶

Most small business owners aren’t struggling because they’re doing things wrong…

They’re struggling because no one has actually shown them how to manage their business step by step

So they:
– mix personal and business money
– forget to save for tax
– avoid their numbers
– and deal with things when it becomes urgent

Sound familiar?

The truth is, you don’t need to overhaul everything overnight 👇

You need a few simple foundations:
✔ Separate your money
✔ Set aside tax as you go
✔ Understand your basic numbers
✔ Check in monthly
✔ Stay on top of things like MTD

That’s how you go from:
feeling overwhelmed → feeling in control

And that’s what good accounting should actually do for you.

Not just tell you what’s due…
but help you build a business that feels organised, structured, and sustainable.

Start small. Stay consistent. That’s where the real change happens.

You don’t have a routine.

Not a better app.
Not more motivation.
Just a simple system you actually stick to.

Because when you’re not checking in regularly, it’s easy to:
– avoid your numbers
– overspend without noticing
– forget to save for tax
– and hope it all works out

(…until it doesn’t)

This is why I always recommend a monthly money routine:

1. Check what came in
2. Review what went out
3. Set aside your tax
4. Pay yourself
5. Know your profit

Nothing complicated.
But done consistently? It changes everything.

More clarity.
Less stress.
Better decisions.

But really? It’s a process problem 💸

No one teaches you how to manage your money when you start a business…
so it ends up being:
Money in, money out… and hoping for the best

And that’s where the stress comes from

This is what working with me actually looks like 👇

Most people come to me thinking it’s about:
– bookkeeping
– tax returns
– ticking boxes

But I don’t just look at your numbers.

I look at what your business is doing for your life.

Because your business should be funding:
🏡 your home
👶 your family
💷 your future security
💭 the lifestyle you actually want

So I ask different questions.

Do you want to buy a house?
Are you planning a family?
Do you know what support is available to you?
Have you thought about your long-term future?

Then I look at your numbers and tell you what I really see.

Where profit is being missed.
Where money is being wasted.
Where things aren’t set up properly.
Where opportunities are sitting right in front of you.

Sometimes it’s small changes.
Sometimes it’s big ones.

But it all comes back to this:

👉 Understanding your money

Because when you understand it, you feel more confident.
& when you feel confident, you make better decisions.
