In the 1970s, less than a quarter of people with cancer survived 10 years. But over the last 40 years, survival has doubled – today half will survive. Cancer Research UK ambition is to accelerate progress and see three-quarters of people surviving the disease within the next 20 years. But it’s not all good news. Just 1% of pancreatic cancer patients, 5% of lung cancer patients & Brain tumour survival is also very low at just 13 per cent diagnosed today are expected to survive 10 years.
