🏡 Could Stamp Duty reform give the housing market a major boost?

New analysis from Rathbones suggests that scrapping or reforming Stamp Duty could increase the number of people moving home by more than 25% — potentially creating around 300,000 additional property transactions each year.

Reducing the upfront cost of moving could encourage more homeowners to take their next step, release more properties onto the market and create greater choice for buyers. This could be particularly helpful for growing families, downsizers and those currently struggling to find the right home.

Although no changes have been confirmed, it is encouraging to see ideas being discussed that could improve movement and confidence throughout the housing market.
