As a Bookkeeper your role will involve:

Preparing VAT returns for the clients
Responding to client queries in a timely manner.
Inputting clients records onto the accounting software,
Filing and scanning.

Dealing with HMRC filling i.e VAT,
Filing of company records including Annual returns, company accounts

You will ideally have the following background:
An excellent telephone manner,
Good knowledge of Excel and QuickBooks.
Ability to multi-task,
Ideally an AAT level 3 or IAB qualification or a minimum of three years of bookkeeping experience in accounting practice.

Job Types: Full-time, part time

Monday to Friday

We have an exciting opportunity to work as a VAT Compliance Manager for an accountancy practice based in Somerset

As VAT Compliance Manager you will have responsibility for running our VAT department whilst managing a small friendly team.

Responsibilities of the VAT Compliance Manager include:

Responsibility for the review of VAT compliance including quarterly VAT returns, EC sales for all clients taking full ownership of the review process and ensuring submission is made to HMRC by the statutory deadlines.
Responsibility for the review of VAT balance sheet accounts and ensuring that differences are investigated, and appropriate accounting action is taken where required.
Delegate appropriate work to more junior team members
Manage and nurture the VAT team, provide practical advice to and develop the junior team members
Resolving VAT queries received from clients.
Preparation of correspondence for HMRC in relation to VAT projects.
Resolving and managing HMRC enquiries.
Identification and implementation of improvements to the above processes
Reporting too and working with the managing director
The successful VAT Compliance Manager will have:

Qualified (AAT level 4 or equivalent)
At least 3 years VAT compliance experience
Attention to detail
Strong analytical skills
Good excel, QuickBooks skills
Accounting knowledge
Proactive, self-motivated
Strong communication skills
