The Bank of England has today announced the 3rd base rate rise in just 4 months - we have already started to see lenders rates rise on a host of different products over the past few weeks. It couldn't be a better time to talk to a broker to check if the rate you are on is the best before they potentially rise further. If you or someone you know have been renting off the council or a housing association for 3 years or more you are probably eligible for the right to buy that home at a discounted price.

That discounted price in some cases can even be used as your deposit so you don't even need to have much savings behind you at all and it is a fantastic way to get onto the property ladder, even if you've been there for 30 years!

A Buy to Let mortgage is for people looking to buy a property to rent out, rather than live in it. Most Buy to Let mortgages are interest only. This means that the monthly repayments will only pay off the interest, not the amount owed on the mortgage (known as capital). Instead, the capital will be paid off in full at the end of the agreed term. A full discussion with myself will establish what type of mortgage will be most suitable for you and the different rules and criteria different lenders have in regards to this type of purchase. Not all heroes wear capes, some of us work in the not-so-boring world of mortgages. This couple came to me a few weeks ago after having problem after problem with a previous lender and broker and even losing a property because of it. They are both self employed, one for only just over 12 months which made it slightly complex, but after talking through their whole situation and working with the BDMs at Pepper, we secured the offer yesterday! Income protection refers to a family of insurance products which ensure you can continue to meet your financial commitments if you are forced to take an extended break from work.

If you can’t work because you’ve had an accident or fallen sick through no fault of your own, income protection insurance pays you an agreed portion of your salary each month. You can then use the money to cover debt repayment, bills and other costs.

With statutory sick pay at only £96.35 per week and many businesses across the UK not offering more than a month sick pay (and loads offering none!) it’s really worth having a chat with me to see if it’s a suitable thing to get set up.
