The combined years of Fair Trade experience in Edinburgh last Thursday would have been a very large number indeed!
We gathered to hear Taysir from Zaytoun CIC recount his daily experiences from the West Bank. We first met Taysir 20 years ago when we travelled to Palestine to take part in the olive harvest and, sadly, instead of his situation improving it has only become more serious and dangerous.
Thank you to One World Shop and Hadeel for hosting and to Lorna for capturing this group of Fair Trade Leaders.
Please support Palestinian farmers to stay on their land by buying their delicious olive oil -Now on Sale! https://www.equalexchange.co.uk/collections/olive-oil
Once tried you will never look back.

Is all dried mango created equal?

When it all looks the same, can you tell which is better for you, for producers and for the planet?

Many dried mangoes, including supermarket own brands, contain sulphites and some have added sugar (yes, extra sugar in mango!). Sulphites help preserve the mango, but they also mean a more processed product, and they can cause sensitivity issues for some people.

Tropical Wholefoods dried mango? 100% fruit. No additives. No preservatives. Just great tasting Organic mango that was grown sustainably in the West African sun. We pay our producers a fair price too. Kind of the perfect snack.

This and , choose real food that makes a big difference.

Ps - It's also on sale. We just wanted to tick all your boxes. www.equalexchange.co.uk

Every year we embrace Organic September as a banner under which we can talk about the benefits of agriculture with a reduced reliance on chemicals and monocultures.
I grew up with an amazing Papa who still grew vegetables on every inch of his garden. Born in the early 1900s, he was part of the Dig for Victory generation, but even in the 1970s and ’80s, his garden was balanced like a finely tuned machine. He would pull his overalls on over his waistcoat and shirt sleeves and spend hours making sure everything was just right. When it came to his compost heap, weeds and pest control, he paid attention and knew what worked and what didn’t. He had a special section of flowers for the vase and my favourite, radishes that he grew just for me, as the rest of the family detested them. Is there any better show of love than producing good, delicious food?
