On the back burner this summer has been the partial resto of Ollie Mitchell’s stunning 956XL. 🔥
It wasn’t a million miles away when it came in and the original plan was to “tart it up abit” for his upcoming wedding, but as with all these things….the more you look, the more you find.
From early on, Ollie was happy to let me take the reins as to where the money was spent and it quickly became apparent that the budget was going to be stretched to get the results desired.
It’s a juggling act knowing where to prioritise spending money and what to leave. I hope the results speak for themselves and am grateful that Ollie trusted the process.
With 100+ hours going into this build ,the list of jobs carried out included:
✅ Replace & modify rear wings/fenders. All red bits (apart from roof) were removed, prepped & painted…red. Roof stripped & painted in situ. Inner arches prepared & stone chipped for longevity.
✅ Hole in bonnet repaired & painted.
✅ Repair rear wiring loom. New rear light lenses. Strip down, clean up & refit all light units. Replace bulbs.
✅ Straighten out arch extensions & refurb.
✅ Strip wheels for paint, repair worn disc holes & replace worn wheel studs/nuts.
✅ Rub back & repaint cab, engine & chassis.
✅ Carry out engine service & refurb starter motor.
✅ Weld up & re-fit broken front mudguards.
✅ General cab clean & spruce.
Carrying out a job like this in the middle of summer was always going to be a bit full on, I’m grateful for the skills & time of William Rose The Chop Shop Charles Wall Ak welding and fabrications for all they did to help get it over the line..
